New Offering for 2026!

A 4-part Seasonal Herbshare~

Throughout the year, starting in March, I'll send out an herbshare to mark the shift of each season. Each will include 5 different herbal preparations to address general seasonal needs and to celebrate the garden abundance.

Four-season shares or individual seasonal shares are available. Perfect for anyone who may be herbal curious and for those who feel flexible or excited about the mystery of what each share will contain. I grow many of the herbs I work with in my garden, or source from local farms and/or herbs that are organically grown.

Specific seasonal offerings will be determined leading up to each share but you can expect some of my favorites- oxymels, bitters, cordials, herbal bath salts, infused honeys along with others to support lymph movement, nervous system, digestion, allergy season, sleep, first aid, immune system and more.

Four-Season Share is $400

Individual Season Shares are $100 each

Seeds for Spring

I love this time of year. The inevitable slow down of the growing season that began weeks ago starts to shift into dreams of what to bring forward into Spring- reviewing what thrived and what didn’t, how I might go about it differently, if there are new plants to grow and get to know and what I might grow more of. Digging roots has slowly begun, inspiring me to grow more roots for next year. I’ve sorted through my seeds and ordered some more of some things and some others that are new to me- roselle, ashwagandha, datura. And some dear old friends from back home in California- CA poppy, more fennel, more nettles.

I begin my winter sowing winter solstice by direct sowing milky oats, which tend to be ready during May’s Flower Moon. For next year I’ve decided to dedicate about 1/6th of my growing space to milky oats, about twice as much space as I’ve done in the past. That’s because this year the birds got almost all of my oat tops. I don’t know if I had missed the harvest window or why, when years past this was never an issue. But this year I hope to grow enough for me and the birds <3

Boost Your Inner Fire!

I just finished a quick standalone class by Liz of Sister Spinster called Veil Opener. It’s meant more for the transition into Autumn, but I still found all the information and tips to be super helpful for how we sustain ourselves through Winter.

I really loved her section on how to boost your inner fire during these shorter days. I’m lucky to have a job that in some ways responds to the seasonal shifts. I lean into simmer pots, more warming teas, garden planning and hosting fires with friends. I find this time of year to be immensely generative and exciting, but I know that’s not the common feeling!

Simmer Pots are a quick and fun way to introduce some of the warmth back into your space and they are very versatile. I’ll add orange and apple slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, rosemary, thyme and ginger to a pot (about 8 cups in a med/large pot would do) and let it slowly come to a simmer, letting the aroma fill the space. Keep an eye on the liquid level- either add more water or turn off when the level is getting low. Compost what remains when you’re done. You can play around with what you have on hand and add other herbs, spices, and fruits too.

While there is no simmer potting our way out of SAD, it’s still a good idea to introduce more warming herbs and spices to support your own inner fire during these colder nights. Liz talks about so many incredible plant allies and rituals you might find useful if you find that this time of year fills you with dread or melancholy. A great resource to check out with tons of additional recipes.

I’ve also been accessing Sunday Herbals Astroherbalism course on building intuitive routines (co-taught with Carina Gutierrez of Tandaan Ma La Tierra) that was offered last Spring. As a nervous little Virgo, I have found it immensely helpful in how to organize and move through my week remaining attuned to the planetary rhythms and their herbal associates. It has been so grounding to work with herbs in these daily practices.
